Dr.Norah Nivedita Shaw 

Dr. Norah Nivedita Shaw has been teaching English language and literature for more than twenty five years. She qualified the Bihar Eligibility Test for Lecturer ship held in 1995 and was commissioned as a lecturer in the department of English in Mahila College, Khagaul, Patna. She did her doctorate on Ruskin Bond’s writings titled Man- Nature Interaction in the fiction of Ruskin Bond in the year 2005. Besides she made sincere effort to seek the promotions by meeting the required eligibilities. (Orientation, Refresher Courses, Paper presentations and Publishing of researched articles in Journals and in books).

      In the process to add more achievements in her profile, she further got her thesis published in book form, with a few modifications titled as Ruskin Bond of India: A true Son of the Soil by the Atlantic Publishers, New Delhi in 2008. The book is highly appreciated by critics as well as Ruskin Bond himself.  The book deals with only a few aspects of Bond’s writings. Therefore throughout she has been exploring deeply into the varied aspects of Ruskin Bond’s writings such as his vision of life, the reflection of supernatural elements, concept of rebirth,  the essence of Train stories, the portrayal of children or women characters, the comparative studies with other works. Her contribution on him has been a drop in the ocean. She hopes these few drops of drizzling would be of some help not only to the students but the teachers as well who love Ruskin Bond and his works.

   Besides in the recent years she has tried to research briefly on two important IndoAnglian writers - Toru Dutt and Henry Louis Vivian Derozio though both neglected and forgotten artists.       

  Teaching at Sri Arvind Mahila College since 2006 gave her tremendous experience and exposure in many other academic field. She has always been taking active part in organizing and motivating the students to enhance their knowledge and interests for English language. She has got many opportunities to be a judge, in many academic institutions of the city. She always looks forward for new learning and exploring a new horizon. She believes learning through teaching is one of the noble professions.
